Veteran Actor Recalled Lee Sun-kyun’s Funeral, “It’s A Witch Hunt, We Have To Do Something”

On January12th, on the YouTube channel ‘Sunni Jang,” a video was posted with the title ‘When I went to the funeral of the late Lee Sun-kyun, they cried, ‘Is it okay for celebrities to be witch-hunted?’ This video featured an interview between reporter Jang Yoon-sun and veteran actor Moon Seong-geun.

In the video, reporter Jang Yoon-sun said, “Today, director Bong Joon-ho and Yoon Jong-shin gathered to make a statement. They asked the investigative authorities, journalists, the government, and the National Assembly to take responsibility for killing someone by leaking information during the internal investigation stage.”

In response, Moon Seong-geun said, “I went to the funeral of the late Lee Sun-kyun during the evening of the first day. It was my first time experiencing such a funeral. It was full of visitors, but it was quiet without anyone making loud noises. When they met someone they know, they hugged and cried. A person who couldn’t help it screamed, “How could he become a witch-hunt victim just because he is a celebrity? Shouldn’t we do something?” Many people held the altar and cried.”

“Some asked if they should stay still like this. Some people suggested that the late Lee Sun-kyun’s colleagues, directors and producers should do something, and they made the announcement today. It is the first time that they have expressed their opinion collectively on such a scale. Many people suffered unfairness and many people thought that they should be careful.”

“The day before the incident, KBS News released recordings of Lee’s calls. Two of them were leaked and uploaded to YouTube. It’s shocking to hear that. Being a good actor means that you have a very good sensibility and keep it well. It is a contradictory demand to endure while acting well,” he added.
