TWICE Nayeon rewrites “Billboard 200” history… “The highest-charting K-pop solo artist”

TWICE Nayeon’s first solo mini-album “IM NAYEON” ranked 7th on the U.S. Billboard’s main album chart “Billboard 200”. This is the highest ranking ever recorded by a K-pop solo singer on “Billboard 200”.

According to a preview article of the U.S. Billboard chart on July 3rd (local time), Nayeon ranked 7th on “Billboard 200” (week of July 9th) with 57,000 equivalent album units sold.

Previously, on “Billboard 200”, the best record for a solo album by a Korean singer was No.11 (recorded by BTS Suga with the mixtape “D-2”). Nayeon broke this record and became Billboard 200’s highest-charting K-pop solo artist.

“Billboard 200” adds TEA (track equivalent albums), which converts the number of digital music downloads into album sales, and SEA (streaming equivalent albums), which converts the number of streamings into album sales, to traditional album sales.

Not only as a solo artist, but Nayeon also ranked 6th and 3rd on “Billboard 200” with TWICE’s 10th mini-album and 3rd full album last year.

Earlier, Nayeon confirmed her global popularity by setting records on overseas charts with the title song “POP!”.

Nayeon’s solo mini-album “IM NAYEON” topped the iTunes albums chart in 20 overseas regions and the Apple Music albums chart in 17 regions on a cumulative basis from release until June 27th. In addition, this album attracted attention by surpassing 500,000 pre-orders as of June 23rd and showing off the potential of a half-million seller.

As Nayeon, who started her solo career 7 years after her debut as “TWICE’s first soloist“, has always been the group’s key member with the position of eldest sister and lead vocalist, she is boasting her skills and potential to global fans to the fullest through her solo album this time.

Meanwhile, Nayeon plans to continue her promotional activities as a solo artist by appearing on various music shows and popular entertainment programs.
