Top Stars Expand Activities To YouTube Variety Shows: Shin Dong-yeop, Yoo Jae-suk And More

Various famous broadcasters have moved from terrestrial and cable programs to produce online content on YouTube

In November last year, Yoo Jae-suk opened the YouTube channel “DeunDeun” and started doing a web entertainment program called “Pinggyego”, which is produced in the form of private chats. Through this YouTube content, Yoo Jae-suk has met with various celebrities, such as Park Bo-young, Jessi, Gong Yoo, BTS’s Jimin & Suga, Jo In-sung, Han Hyo-joo, Cha Tae-hyun, Lee Dong-wook, Hwang Kwang-hee, Im Si-wan, Yoo Yeon-seok, etc.

In this content, Yoo Jae-suk created a comfortable atmosphere for guests to share various things, from their work to daily life, their concerns and also deep stories. Thanks to his excellent hosting power, Yoo Jae-seok’s YouTube program “Pinggyego” has provided lots of fun to not only the guests but also viewers. As such, his channel surpassed 1.45 million subscribers on November 17th. The episode with the highest views even hit 10 million.

In late August this year, Shin Dong-yeop created a YouTube channel named “Zzanbro Shin Dong-yeop”. Taking advantage of his witty sense, he led various drunk broadcasts with 19+ conversations. In particular, Shin Dong-yeop revealed the story of when he drank with Lee Jung-jae and even brought up the gay rumors of Jung Woo-sung and Lee Jung-jae.

In this way, Shin Dong-yeop’s YouTube content gains keen attention as it allows his celebrity guests to talk about stories that would have been edited out if they were on a TV broadcast. The channel exceeded 100,000 subscribers within 6 days of its opening and has reached 794,000 subscribers as of the 17th. Various stars, including Hwang Jung-min, SEVENTEEN’s Mingyu & Dino, Ha Ji-won and Lee Hyo-ri, made their appearance on this show one after another.

In March last year, Tak Jae-hoon also created the channel “No Back Tak Jae-hoon” and began working as a YouTube content creator. He also invites different celebrities but asks them straightforward and very direct questions. As of the 17th, his channel has gathered 1.44 million subscribers through many episodes with famous guests, such as Sandara Park, Kwon Eun-bi, Jessi, Japanese AV actress, Hong Seok-cheon, etc.

In addition to these three broadcasters, Lee Kyung-kyu is also active on YouTube. Kang Ho-dong also created “Kang Ho-dong’s Neighborhood”. Park Myung-soo is operating “Halmyungsoo”, while Lee Hyo-ri has appeared on a number of YouTube shows.

YouTube cannot guarantee success even for top stars who have dominated TV programs due to its high competitiveness. Nevertheless, Yoo Jae-suk, Shin Dong-yeop, Tak Jae-hoon, and Lee Hyo-ri are doing well with their unique charms.
