KBS’s iconic variety show Happy Together is officially making a long-awaited return, with national MC Yoo Jae Suk confirmed as the main host. The beloved program is set to premiere in July 2026, marking its comeback after a six-year hiatus.
First airing in 2001, Happy Together ran for nearly two decades before concluding in 2020. Throughout its run, it became one of Korea’s most recognizable variety shows, producing iconic segments such as “Tray Karaoke,” “Sauna Talk,” and “Late Night Snack Bar.”

At its peak, the show recorded an impressive 24% viewership rating, solidifying its place as a cornerstone of Korean entertainment history.
The rebooted version, titled Happy Together – It’s Better Not to Be Alone, will take on a completely new direction. Unlike previous seasons that focused on celebrity talk formats, the upcoming season will be a story-driven music audition program.
Participants will compete in teams, emphasizing harmony, collaboration, and personal storytelling rather than just vocal ability. The production team aims to create a more emotional and narrative-driven experience that resonates with modern audiences.
As the main MC, Yoo Jae Suk is expected to play a central role in guiding contestants and drawing out their stories. Known for his empathy and quick wit, he will act not only as a host but also as a bridge between participants and viewers.

His return to Happy Together is especially meaningful, as the show played a major role in shaping his career into that of Korea’s “Nation’s MC.”
The show has already begun recruiting participants through its official website, with applications open until May 31. Unlike traditional audition programs, there are no restrictions on age, genre, or team size, making it accessible to a wide range of contestants.
The first episode is scheduled to air in July on KBS 2TV, signaling the start of what many expect to be one of the biggest variety show revivals of the year.
Over its 19-year history, Happy Together evolved through multiple formats while maintaining its core identity as a people-centered entertainment program. Its return reflects both nostalgia and innovation—bringing back a beloved brand while adapting to today’s viewing trends.
