Kim Tae Ri is the talk of the town on social media after “Revenant” aired.
Recently, RACOI Korea (Response Analysis on Content of the Internet) of the Korea Communications Commission, released the rankings of the Korean dramas and performers with the most posts on the Internet in the final week of June (from the 19 to 25). Kim Tae Ri landed in first place with 2238 points in both the overall rankings of performers and the rankings of female performers.
Although “Revenant” has only aired its second episode, Kim Tae Ri has been able to garner a massive buzz on social media. It suffices to say that the actress has become a sought-after name following this drama appearance. “Revenant” itself also topped the RACOI’s chart for TV series after obtaining 10% viewership rating after two episodes.
“Revenant” is the third time Kim Tae Ri leads a drama and receives resounding success in terms of rating. In the past, “Mr. Sunshine” was the third highest-rated drama in cable TV history with 18.1%; “Twenty-Five, Twenty-One” also charted at first place in viewership for 8 consecutive weeks at the time it aired. Its last episode ended with 11.513%.
The success the actress is enjoying in the drama scene is partly attributed to her big screen achievement. When she was a rookie in the filming industry, she overcame 1500 auditions to get her role in “The Handmaiden.” The movie was a hit in and out of Korea and brought Kim Tae Ri 8 “Best New Actress” awards out of 10 nominations, including awards from the “Blue Dragon Film Awards” and the “Asian Film Awards.”
Until now, Kim Tae Ri only has 5 movies and 3 dramas under her belt. Nonetheless, the actress proves, with great acting chops, her works can, no doubt, either be a commercial success or one with great artistic value.
