The ‘parallel’ between best friends Kim Sae Ron and Lizzy’s DUI incidents give netizens goosebumps 

BFFs Kim Sae Ron and Lizzy happen to be caught drunk driving on the same day in different years. 

After Kim Sae Ron shockingly got arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, Korean netizens are bringing up a “parallel theory” between her and former After School member Lizzy, who was also booked for drunk driving. 

On May 18, Kim Sae Ron was caught driving while intoxicated, inflicting serious property damage, and fleeing the scene in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam, Seoul. In particular, according to CCTV footage of the accident released on the same day, Kim Sae Ron’s SUV suddenly rushed toward the sidewalk, and crashed into guard rails, street trees, and an electric transformer box. It was confirmed that the accident caused electricity to be cut off for more than three hours, severely damaging nearby merchants and residents.

In addition, it was found that there was another person in the car with Kim Sae Ron at the time of the accident. Thus, the controversy is not expected to subside anytime soon because there is a possibility that the passenger who got into the car with Kim Sae Ron was aiding and abetting a DUI. 

Netizens are discussing and getting creeped out by the parallel between Kim Sae Ron and Lizzy. Like Kim Sae Ron, Lizzy also caused a DUI accident. What’s most surprising is that Lizzy was caught drunk driving on May 18, 2021, the exact same day but only a year prior to Kim Sae Ron.

In fact, last year, on May 18, Lizzy hit a taxi ahead near the intersection at the southern end of Yeongdong Bridge in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam, Seoul. After Lizzy had a breathalyzer test, it was reported that her blood alcohol level exceeded 0.08%, which was at the level of license revocation. Fortunately, there were no casualties. 

Another surprising thing is that both Kim Sae Ron and Lizzy were investigated at the Gangnam Police Station after their accidents. Moreover, although they were born 8 years apart, they share the same birthday on July 31.  Lizzy (real name Park Soo Young) was born on July 31, 1992, and Kim Sae Ron was born on July 31, 2000. All of this may be coincidences, but since the two are best friends, netizens find the parallel between them “creepy”.
