According to the Seocho Police Station in Seoul, Kwon Youngchan was recently forwarded to the prosecution for violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation). The former manager, identified as Mr. K, had filed a complaint against Kwon in June last year on charges of defamation and insult.
Through his YouTube channel “Kwon Youngchan TV,” Kwon repeatedly disclosed Mr. K’s full name and photograph while alleging that the manager had embezzled 5 million won in hospital fees from a medical facility where Kim Sae Ron received treatment for self-harm during her lifetime. He also claimed that after her death on February 16, 2025, Mr. K revisited the hospital to illegally access her personal medical records and that he had isolated and “groomed” the actress away from her family. In his broadcasts, Kwon used strong language, including accusations that the manager had “sold her out.” He further reported both the hospital and Mr. K to authorities for alleged violations of medical law, stating he would uncover the truth of the case.

Mr. K has firmly denied all allegations, calling them completely false and a serious act of defamation. He previously rejected claims that he revisited the hospital after Kim Sae Ron’s passing or engaged in any financial misconduct related to her medical expenses.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that the complaints Kwon filed regarding alleged violations of medical law were dismissed without charges.
Mr. K served as Kim Sae Ron’s manager for approximately one year, from January 2024 until about two months before her death. According to individuals familiar with the situation, he accompanied her not only to filming schedules but also during her medical treatment process as part of his managerial duties.

While the accusations filed by Kwon have been concluded without indictment, the defamation complaint filed by Mr. K has advanced to the prosecution stage for legal review. Representatives for Mr. K stated that the “three months of false broadcasts constituted a serious violation of personal rights” and indicated that additional legal action may follow.
Kwon Youngchan has not responded to requests for comment regarding the defamation case involving Mr. K.
