Tragic news has emerged that the bereaved family of late actress Kim Sae-ron recently experienced severe emotional distress, with reports that one family member attempted to take their own life.
According to reports on March 14, the family had originally planned to attend a group screening event for the actress’s posthumous work, Everyday, We, held at a CGV theater in Cheongdam, Seoul. However, they were unable to attend after one family member reportedly attempted an extreme act at home just days prior.
A close acquaintance familiar with the family’s situation shared that their only wish is for actor Kim Soo-hyun to acknowledge the full truth and offer a sincere apology to the late actress. The acquaintance expressed frustration, claiming that instead of doing so, Kim Soo-hyun and his legal team have accused the family of spreading false information using fabricated evidence, which has caused them further emotional pain.
The source also alleged that two years ago, when Kim Soo-hyun denied having been in a relationship with Kim Sae-ron, the actress felt as though her existence had been denied. Additionally, during the aftermath of an incident involving damages, the handling by Kim Soo-hyun’s agency reportedly caused further distress to the actress. The acquaintance added that despite the situation, the family now feels they are being treated as if they are at fault, which has deepened their suffering.
It was also revealed that this was not the first time a family member had attempted such an act, and the situation is described as extremely serious. The acquaintance urged the public to immediately stop criticizing and insulting the bereaved family.
Kim Sae-ron was found deceased at her home in Seoul’s Seongdong District on February 16 last year. The date coincided with Kim Soo-hyun’s 37th birthday. In March of the same year, the family claimed through a YouTube channel that the actress had been in a relationship with Kim Soo-hyun for five years, beginning in 2016 when she was still a minor.
The family has continued to demand acknowledgment and a sincere public apology, while Kim Soo-hyun’s side has denied the allegations, stating that their relationship only began after she became an adult, from the summer of 2019 to the fall of 2020.
It was also reported that Kim Sae-ron had suffered significant stress during her lifetime, including being asked to pay approximately 700 million won in damages by her former agency, which was also associated with Kim Soo-hyun, following a DUI incident in May 2022.
The legal battle between both sides is ongoing. Kim Soo-hyun has filed a lawsuit seeking damages worth 12 billion won against the bereaved family and the YouTube channel involved, while the family has countersued him on charges including violations of child welfare laws and false accusations. The dispute continues to intensify, with both sides maintaining their positions.
