YouTuber Eun Hyun Jang has released an audio recording featuring claims from an individual who says he shared a detention cell with Kim Se Ui, the head of the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute.
On May 31, Eun uploaded a video titled “[Emergency Release] Kim Se Ui Will Never Get Out of Jail. Kim Soo Hyun, the Late Kim Sae Ron’s Family” on his YouTube channel.
In the video, Eun stated, “A person who said he spent two or three days in the detention center with Kim Se Ui contacted me immediately after being released.” He added that he decided to make the information public because he believed it was in the public interest.
The recording that followed featured the voice of a man identifying himself as someone who had recently been released from detention.
According to the informant, “I stayed in the same detention cell as Kim Se Ui for nearly three days.” He further claimed that Kim discussed how pretrial detention could last up to six months and allegedly suggested that applying for a citizen-participation jury trial could result in his release within approximately three months.
The informant also claimed that Kim said he intended to call the late Kim Sae Ron’s mother as a witness during the trial.
According to the recording, Kim allegedly believed that if the trial proceeded in that manner, public opinion could shift and some people might begin to view Kim Sae Ron’s mother as partially responsible in the controversy.
The informant further alleged that Kim complained about being the only person detained despite multiple individuals being involved in the broader situation. He reportedly expressed confidence that he would ultimately be able to avoid long-term consequences.
After releasing the recording, Eun Hyun Jang said that if the claims were true, they would be deeply shocking.
“If the informant’s account is accurate, it suggests that he is calculating how to use the citizen jury trial system and the bereaved family in order to secure his release from detention,” Eun stated.
He also invited responses from all parties involved, saying, “If there are any inaccuracies in the claims, Kim Se Ui’s side is welcome to contact me. Likewise, if the family of the late Kim Sae Ron wishes to share their position, they may do so at any time.”
Meanwhile, on May 26, the Seoul Central District Court issued an arrest warrant for Kim Se Ui, who is facing allegations including violations of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, specifically the distribution of illegally recorded content, as well as defamation-related charges.
However, it is important to note that the claims revealed in the video are based solely on statements made by an individual who alleges he shared a detention cell with Kim Se Ui. The authenticity of the alleged conversations and whether the statements were actually made have not been independently verified.
