The most iconic cheek kisses in K-drama (ft. Hometown Cha Cha Cha, Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo… and a special couple)
K-drama kisses are a league of their own, but kisses on the lips are not the only iconic ones!
Kisses on the lips is the grandest display of affection in K-drama. But many other gestures can also be just as tender and adoring, and a peck on the cheek may do wonders to the show. Below are some iconic cheek kisses that get the audience squealing.
The main couple of “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo” may as well take the throne for cheek kisses that satisfy both quality and quantity, all initiated by Nam Joo Hyuk’s character. As the couple was fresh in love, they publicly showered each other with displays of affections, and the preferred way may just be a slight peck on the cheek.
Chief Hong of “Hometown Cha Cha Cha” (played by Kim Seon Ho) looked like the happiest man in the world when dentist Yoon Hye Jin (played by Shin Min Ah) lightly kissed him on the cheek. His expression where the dimples were clearly showing is one of total joy, delight, and adoration.
While “Abyss” can’t be said to be overwhelmingly popular, the chemistry between Ahn Hyo Seop and Park Bo Young was still pretty explosive. Despite the series focusing more on fantasy and crim investigation, Ahn Hyo Seop still managed to peck the cheek of his partner in an extremely cute way.
The couple played by Yoon Kyun Sang and Kim Yoo Jung in “Clean With Passion For Now” appeared madly in love right from the poster. While they had a lot of kissing scenes in the show, it was the beautiful cheek kiss on the series’ poster that best exuded their love.
Compared to mentioned K-dramas, the cheek kiss between Lee Seung Gi and Moon Chae Won in the movie “Love Forecast” was more playful than loving. Moon Chae Won was obviously joking around, while Lee Seung Gi looked tiredly fond. This really suited the two’s on-screen relationship, where they were childhood friends that debated for way too long before dating.
It took Cha Eun Ho (Lee Jong Suk’s character) years to earn affection from Kang Dani (Lee Na Young’s character), so the joy on his face was unmistakable. Throughout the series, these small displays of affection totally make the audience squeal.
In “While You Were Sleeping”, Lee Jong Suk was the one that initiated the cheek kiss. In the scene, they were on an outdoor date where Suzy had to wear sunglasses to cover her face, but Lee Jong Suk’s character just couldn’t hold back. The couple’s chemistry was just out of this world.
This angle may confuse some audiences, but Kim Jae Wook was actually kissing Park Min Young on the cheek.
Another just-as-adorable moment was when Park Min Young had to tiptoed to peck the cheek of Kim Jae Wook. “”Her Private Life” truly never disappoints when it comes to kissing scenes.
Son Ye Jin was probably the luckiest of them all to be pecked on both of her cheeks. In “Personal Taste”, the actress co-star with Lee Min Ho, and delivered some truly spectacular loving scenes. This double cheek kiss, in particular, just overwhelms viewers with adorableness.
And finally, the list will be sealed with an iconic cheek of “Vincenzo” – which was between the male lead Vincenzo (played by Song Joong Ki)… and the minor male villain played by Kim Sung Cheol. Of course, there are also heart-fluttering moments between the male and female lead, but this scene where Sung Cheol pecked a disgusted Song Joong Ki in the middle of an amusement park just made the entire audience burst out in laughter.
