“Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938” drops still cuts of Lee Dong Wook landing back in the chaotic year of 1938
Actor Lee Dong Wook returns to the small screen with a more intense and attractive charm.
tvN’s new Sat-Sun drama “Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938” unveiled the first still cuts of Lee Yeon (Lee Dong Wook) in the middle of the chaotic times. Viewers are looking forward to the beginning of his fierce hunt to project his precious things.
“Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938” is a K-fantasy action historical drama about gumiho Lee Yeon who gets summoned to the chaotic era of 1938 and fights to return to the present day. The drama features a unique world combining indigenous gods and monsters, and characters from traditional myths have been upgraded with dynamic action, scale, and a variety of enhancements. It marks Lee Dong Wook’s comeback on the small screen after three years.
The reunion of director Kang Shin Hyo and screenwriter Han Woo Ri, who opened a new world for the K-fantasy genre, and the teaming up of trustworthy actors, such as Lee Dong Wook, Kim So Yeon, Kim Bum, Ryu Kyung Soo, Hwang Hee, and Kim Yong Ji, are raising viewers’ anticipation for the second season.
Lee Dong Wook continues to show his charisma as the gumiho Lee Yeon. In the last season, he became human and had a happy ending with his “eternal first love” Nam Ji Ah (Jo Bo Ah). However, he is pulled into an unexpected situation and summoned back to the year 1938.
Amid high expectations, the recently released still cuts show Lee Yeon’s peaceful everyday life before everything happens. Standing in front of an ice cream showcase with a fresh smile, he doesn’t hesitate to choose the mint chocolate one. Lee Yeon seems to be enjoying an ordinary life with his lover in the modern world where there is WiFi and mint chocolate. However, it is later revealed that his ties with the past have not been completely cut off.
Lee Dong Wook, who has returned as Lee Yeon, expressed feelings, saying “I’m happy that I can play Lee Yeon again”.
The actor added, “I’m very excited to be able to present another work that I have put a lot of effort into with the director and writer since last season. I hope you enjoy it”.
Lee Dong Wook cited “change” as the new point to watch the drama this time. In this regard, he said, “As the times have changed, so have the actions”, adding “Lee Yeon will do his best to protect his love with Nam Ji Ah as well as try to regain and protect other precious things to him”, stimulating fans’ curiosity.
Meanwhile, “Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938” will air the first episode at 9:20 p.m. on May 6th as the follow-up drama to “Pandora: Beneath the Paradise”.
