Hwang Jung-eum left after episode 8 “How many more episodes of ‘The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection’ do I have to watch?”

Star writer Kim Soon-ok and PD Oh Joon-hyuk's 46 billion won mega-project "The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection" is receiving viewer neglect with a record low rating of 2.1%

Once hailed as the “Queen of Mala-flavored Dramas” and achieving great success with the “Penthouse” series, writer Kim Soon-ok’s recent works have been consistently underperforming.

“The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection” broke away from writer Kim Soon-ok and PD Joo Dong-min’s previous success formula and raised expectations with a new combination with PD Oh Joon-hyuk. However, the expectations have been dashed by its dismal performance.

Despite attempting new changes, “The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection”, as a sequel to “The Escape of the Seven”, is recording even lower ratings.

At the press conference, PD Oh Joon-hyuk stated that he aimed to create a drama that viewers could watch more comfortably, taking into account feedback from Season 1. However, despite the dazzling cast including Hwang Jung-eum, Lee Joon and Yoon Jong-hoon, the ratings struggled.

In particular, unlike the provocative material of the controversial previous work “The Escape of the Seven”, this season attempted condemnation and resolution, yet fell short of winning over viewers.

Within the broadcast industry, there are various analyses regarding whether the low ratings of “The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection” are simply due to the break in the collaboration between the writer and the director or due to viewer fatigue with the makjang (something that is so bad that it couldn’t get any worse) storyline.

Some viewers expressed their reactions through online communities, saying, “Hwang Jung-eum left after episode 8, and now I’m even less interested“, “I don’t understand what the story is about“, “When will it end? I want to watch the next drama quickly“, “It seems like the ratings won’t even match the ‘Queen of Tears’ special broadcast“…

How many episodes of “The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection” are left? This 16-episode drama had a production cost of 46 billion won. Currently, episode 11 was broadcast, and episode 12 will air on May 4th.

Meanwhile, some expect that the failure of this work could be an opportunity for a new turning point in writer Kim Soon-ok’s creative world.

As the drama “The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection” approaches its end this month, attention is focused on whether writer Kim Soon-ok and PD Oh Joon-hyuk can captivate viewers’ hearts once again despite the low ratings.
