Sulli mentioned her “no bra images”, discussed feminism in “Persona: Sulli”

Sulli’s revelations in the documentary “Dear Jinri”, a part of the newly-released “Persona: Sulli”, have captured the attention of netizens

On the morning of November 13, Sulli’s last work, “Persona: Sulli” and its complementary documentary “Dear Jinri”, was released. Here, footage of an interview with Sulli done in 2019 were unveiled, driving fans to tears with the late idol-actress’ various confessions about the battles she fought during her lifetime

In particular, alongside describing the entertainment industry where she was not treated like humans, the late Sulli also mentioned being criticized for her no bra photos.

According to Sulli, going braless is an action she wanted to take to support feminism, even though she knew she would receive many negative comments.

“Everything I did on my social media, I did because I wanted to. At a basic level, my actions and thoughts align with those who support women’s rights. ‘Women shouldn’t do that. Women shouldn’t be too loud or have strong opinions.’ These things contradict who I am. I don’t like what they say”, the late female artist said.

Sulli then brought up the double standard between men and women, saying, “Men talk very comfortably about sex or desires and what dissatisfies them. When they are straightforward about these things, men are praised. But when women do it, they are criticized as impolite or too stubborn. Even if I disagree with some women, I still support them because they are capable of expressing their opinions. I think women need to speak up more. Women can make mistakes, can get angry, and can do things wrong.”

Then, Sulli revealed that she wore no bra because she thought it looked better that way.

“If the whole world criticizes me, and I believe I did nothing wrong, I tend to stay loyal to my beliefs. Sometimes I know I will be boycotted without proper reason, and when that happens, I just think: ‘I knew it.’ And I continue doing what makes me happy”, she said.

Sulli also surprised many people by admitting that she hated herself for being beautiful.

“They told me: ‘You were born beautiful. You don’t need to know anything. Just sit among these people and make them happy. Then they will like you. Your appearance will make them happy.’ They always say things like that. I don’t know what to say. I’ve thought a lot about my appearance. If I say it’s difficult to be beautiful, people would find it annoying”, Sulli shared.

Before her passing, Sulli had got into various controversies over posting no bra photos and taking photoshoots with controversial themes. As a result, she was considered an idol/actress who didn’t follow the industry’s standard, who instead strived to express freedom, openness, and rebellion.
