NewJeans to Perform at the ‘2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards’ on March 6th

On the 8th (local time), NewJeans confidently secured a spot in the performer lineup for the ‘2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards,’ as announced by Billboard. Accordingly, NewJeans will attend the ceremony on the 6th of next month at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, USA, to showcase their performance.

Started in 2007, the ‘Billboard Women in Music Awards’ is an awards ceremony that selects and honors the top female artists, creators, producers, executives, and others who have had a significant impact on the music industry in the past year. NewJeans, who was selected as the winner of the ‘Group of the Year Award’ at this year’s ceremony, will not only be the only K-pop female artist to receive the award but also perform, shining as a presence of ‘global trend.’

NewJeans achieved remarkable success in 2023. Last year, they demonstrated tremendous power by topping the Billboard main album chart ‘Billboard 200’ with their second EP ‘Get Up’ and placing five songs (‘OMG’, ‘Ditto’, ‘Super Shy’, ‘ETA’, ‘Cool With You’) on the main song chart ‘Hot 100’. ‘Get Up’ was recorded as the fifth best-selling physical album in the United States last year, the highest ranking among K-pop female artist albums and second only to Taylor Swift’s ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ among female artists overall.

In August last year, NewJeans also made their first appearance on the stage of the major U.S. music festival ‘Lollapalooza Chicago’ as the first K-pop girl group. At the time, they received an explosive response, with approximately 70,000 spectators singing along, making it hard to believe that it was their first performance in the United States.

Thanks to such achievements and the support of music fans, NewJeans won the shortest period (1 year 4 months) for a K-pop artist at the ‘Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs)’ in the United States and became the first K-pop girl group to perform.

Meanwhile, besides NewJeans, global pop stars such as Karol G, who was selected as ‘Woman of the Year,’ Charli XCX, Maren Morris, Tems, and Victoria Monet are scheduled to attend and perform at the ‘2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards.’
