From Karina to Moonbyul: Celebrities show frustration with “Queen of Tears” plot development

In the 14th episode of tvN’s “Queen of Tears“, which aired on April 21st, Hong Hae-in (Kim Ji-won) finally underwent surgery and had a scene where she forgot all memories except for the name “Baek Hyun-woo”. In the drama, from episodes 13 to 14, Hong Hae-in’s oppositional position with Baek Hyun-woo (Kim Soo-hyun) over the surgery caused frustration among viewers.

Afterward, viewers momentarily sighed in relief at Baek Hyun-woo’s persistent persuasion leading to Hong Hae-in undergoing surgery. However, this relief was short-lived. As the surgery situation changed to “in recovery”, Baek Hyun-woo was framed for the murder of the land real estate agent linked to Yoon Eun-sung (Park Sung-hoon) and arrested by Interpol.

Faced with a crisis again with the end in sight, viewers expressed frustration, “It’s the last episode next week, why are they doing this? Is it going to end abruptly?” Even celebrities who are avid fans of “Queen of Tears” showed frustration with the drama’s plot.

On an online community, a chat in which aespa’s Karina expressed frustration with the drama through Bubble (paid fan communication platform) was revealed. Karina said “I have a lot to say, but I’ll hold back. I’m so frustrated that I had to drink a soda“, showing her overly immersed reaction to the drama and eliciting laughter.

MAMAMOO’s Moonbyul also garnered sympathy from viewers by posting the scene of Baek Hyun-woo (Kim Soo-hyun) being urgently arrested on her Instagram story with the caption “This is not right“.

Previously, “Queen of Tears” also drew viewers’ anger as it portrayed the abrupt downfall of a chaebol family due to being sloppily deceived. Despite the ongoing confusing development, the chemistry between Hong Hae-in and Baek Hyun-woo as a married couple and the actors’ acting skills have received praise from viewers, placing the drama on the verge of achieving a record-breaking highest rating on tvN.

Amidst this, the attention is now focused on whether the final episode of “Queen of Tears”, which will air next Sunday (April 28th), can set a new record and resolve the frustrating development.
