Shownu and Hyungwon to reportedly debut as Monsta X’s first unit this summer

Monsta X, known as a group with amazing performances, introduces a unit with members Shownu and Hyungwon.

According to TV Report, Shownu and Hyungwon are preparing for their debut as a unit this summer. The two, known as the main dancer and lead dancer of Monsta X, are expected to show their best synergy with outstanding visuals and intense performances through the unit promotion this summer.

The reason Shownu & Hyungwon unit is drawing keen attention is that this will be Shownu’s first activity after fulfilling military service. Shownu, the oldest member of Monsta X, enlisted as a social service worker in July 2021 and was discharged on April 21 this year.

Hyungwon is the most versatile member of Monsta X. He is active in various fields, such as DJing, acting, and even as an MC for SBS’s “Inkigayo”. In addition, Hyungwon proved his producing skills by releasing his self-composed song “Nobody Else” in Monsta X’s 3rd full album. He also produced songs, such as AB6IX’s “Complicated” as well as the b-side tracks “Bad Liar” and “Where Is This Love” for the solo mini album of member Kihyun.

Monsta X, which has carried out activities with the five-member lineup after Minhyuk joined the military on the 4th of last month, will push individual activities in the meantime, starting with member Jooheon releasing his first solo album 8 years after his debut on the 22nd.

Following Joheon, Shownu and Hyungwon will comfort fans, who are saddened as they will not be able to see Monsta X as a whole group for the time being, with their unit promotion.

“Representative beast idol of K-pop third generation” Monsta X debuted in 2015 with the first mini album “TRESPASS”. They later gained huge attention after releasing various hit songs, such as “Shoot Out”, “DRAMARAMA”, “Love Killa”, “GAMBLER”, etc. Except for I.M, all Monsta X members, including Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, and Jooheon, renewed their contracts with Starship Entertainment.
