BTS V recorded the highest increase in followers on Spotify among Korean solo singers in May, certifying his global popularity.
According to K-POP RADAR, V ranked 1st in the solo artist category with 403,874 increased followers on Spotify in May. In the combined chart for groups and individuals, V placed 3rd following his own group BTS and BLACKPINK.
V has continued to gain more followers since the release of his OST “Christmas Tree” for the drama “Our Beloved Summer” in 2021. In the 2022 Spotify year-end report, V topped the rankings of K-pop soloists with the most followers, proving his strong presence as a solo artist.
As of June 3rd, V has accumulated a total of 13.32 million followers. With only three OST songs, he currently holds 3rd place in the Spotify K-pop solo artist ranking. Among the Top 10 artists, V is the only person who has not released any solo album or mixtape.
The three OST songs released by V received huge love from not only K-pop fans but also dramaholics. The OST “Sweet Night” from “Itaewon Class” and “Christmas Tree” from “Our Beloved Summer” claimed the top two spots as the most streamed K-OSTs on Spotify, proving V’s position as a “trustworthy OST king”.
V also showcases his strong music power by sweeping No.1 in the ‘Most Streamed K-OSTs’ category on Spotify’s yearly chart for three consecutive years. “Christmas Tree” was the only solo track by a male singer to make it to the “Top 10 Most Streamed K-pop Songs of 2022”
Meanwhile, V captivated netizens with his pleasant and lovely charms when appearing on tvN’s variety show “Jinny’s Kitchen”, which ended in May. The Response Analysis on Content of the Internet (RACOI) also revealed that V ranked 1st place several times in rankings for TV show casts. His popularity is further highlighted by the significant increases in followers on his Instagram and Spotify.
