When asked a question related to the possibility of “Iron Man 4”, Robert Downey Jr. gave a clever answer that draws attention.
On June 20th, Robert Downey Jr. (hereinafter referred to as RDJ), attended the premiere of the reality TV show “Downey’s Dream Cars” on HBO MAX. During an interview with the American media outlet ExtraTV, RDJ mentioned the possibility of a sequel to “Tropic Thunder” and “Iron Man 4.”
In particular, regarding Tom Cruise’s hope for a sequel to “Tropic Thunder”, RDJ responded that he would be more than willing to do another project with him, though they’d need to figure out what the title is.
Afterwards, when the interviewer asked RDJ if “Iron Man 4” could happen, the actor jokingly said, “Does he (Tom Cruise) want to do that? Tom, don’t take it! Don’t take it!”, avoiding the question.
Meanwhile, back in March, there were reports that Tom Cruise had joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This led to rumors that he might appear as a villainous version of Tony Stark (played by RDJ) called Superior Iron Man. RDJ’s recent interview referred to these rumors.
However, Tom Cruise denied the rumors, stating that he loves Robert Downey Jr and that he can’t even imagine someone else playing “Iron Man”. According to Tom Cruise, “Iron Man” is a perfect match for RDJ.
On the other hand, it is reported that Tom Cruise was actually offered the role of Iron Man before RDJ, but he declined the offer.
