More Scandals of Ryu Jun-yeol: Disrespecting Lee Je-hoon and Cold Treatment of Hyeri
Various past controversies of Ryu Jun-yeol have been re-emerging after the actor’s “love drama” with Han So-hee and Hyeri.
Ever since the love drama of Ryu Jun-yeol, Han So-hee, and Hyeri unfolded, netizens have dug up various dirt related to Ryu Jun-yeol, proving that his career was never clear of scandals.
Previously, Ryu Jun-yeol’s treatment of staff and hypocrisy regarding environmental causes were questioned. Now, he is facing allegations of disrespecting Lee Je-hoon, cold treatment of Hyeri, and joining an extreme forum.
Joining Korea’s most notorious extreme forum
In 2016, Ryu Jun-yeol was suspected of participating in the most notorious forum in Korea, Ilbe. Ilbe is considered a gathering place for extreme elements condemned by Korean society, specializing in posting provocative articles discriminating against races, belittling women, and insulting celebrities.
Specifically, the actor posted a photo of himself climbing on a rock with an unrelated caption: “Going to buy tofu for mom.” At that time, taking photos on rocks and using the slang “tofu” was very popular on this forum.
Additionally, when a netizen tried to enter Ryu Jun-yeol’s email address into the forum, they found that this email had been used to register an account.
Ryu Jun-yeol was suspected of joining an extreme forum after posting a photo with a weird caption
Afterward, the “Reply 1988” star clarified that he did not participate in the extreme forum, and the caption “Going to buy tofu for mom” was written by a friend. Although many netizens remained suspicious, the incident quickly faded away.
Disrespecting Lee Je-hoon
Recently, the Korean forum Cafe Daum has brought up an old TV show featuring Ryu Jun-yeol and Lee Je-hoon. The topic has since been shared on SNS platform X (formerly Twitter), and garnered over 5.1 million views.
In particular, according to recaps of the show, Ryu Jun-yeol was talking to Lee Je-hoon rudely and being confrontational despite being 4 years younger and debuting 8 years later than the latter actor.
As a result, criticisms are flooding in regarding Ryu Jun-yeol’s alleged disrespectful attitude.
Cold treatment towards Hyeri
Although the couple only officially broke up on November 13, 2023, they had shown many signs of cracks before that. In previous interviews, Hyeri had criticized Ryu Jun-yeol for often disappearing and not contacting her for many days.
The actress also mentioned many times expressing her love for Hawaii, but during their dating period, Ryu Jun-yeol had never taken her there. The actor also did not attend his girlfriend’s birthday party in June 2023. At a friend’s wedding in November 2023, Hyeri even cried during the speech.

Now, as the “love drama” with Han So-hee happened, Ryu Jun-yeol was once again criticized as cowardly, not daring to break up directly but instead resorting to cold treatment, hurting Hyeri.
