Chun Woo Hee was born in 1987. She started acting in 2004 and had a hard time in the field, trying to advance her career. Early works she appeared on such as “Love, So Divine,” “Herb” and “Mother” gathered a stellar cast but could not give her the popularity boost a rookie desparately needed. However, Woo Hee was determined to be an actress and she pushed forward despite the hardship. In 2011, the actress started gaining attention with the box-office hit “Sunny” as a rebellious student, gaining recognition from the critics for her “eccentric” acting.

It was three years later that Chun Woo Hee’s career turned over a new page with the movie “Han Gong Ju,” a movie based on the real-life experiences of a female high-school student who was gang-raped. The movie follows the student’s journey of starting a new life after the tragic event. As Gong Ju, Chun Woo Hee excellently portrayed the physical and emotional pain of the young girl who experienced such a traumatic event through minor yet significant gestures, lines and looks. The indie movie generated a sensation and topped the box-office ticket sales in the first week of release. The movie also received international acclaim, bringing Woo Hee’s name and recognition to a new height.
