MC Mong refuted the allegation that he attempted to recruit EXO members Kai and Baekhyun.
On July 19th, MC Mong released a long statement on the controversial transcript reported in articles through his legal representative Ko Yoon Gi on July 18th.
Regarding the transcript of MC Mong mentioning EXO Kai and Baekhyun in a conversation with several entertainment officials last year, his lawyer said, “Ahn illegally recorded MC Mong’s private conversation with his acquaintances more than 1.5 years ago without the consent of the parties involved. They intentionally edited some parts to make the transcript and use it as a means of coercion.”
The lawyer continued, “Ahn, who maliciously edited and distributed parts of the transcript, has been sent to the prosecution on threatening charge on the 17th. Despite being investigated and prosecuted for this case, Ahn repeatedly committed shameless acts, such as extracting and editing certain parts of the transcript then distributing it even more explicitly.”
Lawyer Ko explained, “Since the beginning of this year, Ahn has been using aliases to make various threats against MC Mong’s former agency Big Planet Made (BPM), BPM CEO Park Jang Geun, and MC Mong. Since the public opinion was not on his side, Ahn changed the content and method of his threats after reports of speculations regarding the relationship between EXO-CBX (Chen, Baekhyun & Xiumin) and MC Mong came out.”
Mentioning the relationship between MC Mong and EXO members, the lawyer said, “He (MC Mong) had a chance to talk with EXO and the members discussed their music activities and future growth as artists. At that time, he found out that EXO members had independent dreams of becoming producers. It is true that he gave advice to EXO as a senior singer who is close to them. MC Mong tried to exclude stories that may cause unnecessary misunderstandings about the artists as much as possible”, emphasizing that MC Mong only advised EXO members and he has never tried to recruit CBX.
“When the dispute between CBX and SM broke out, MC Mong and BPM were pointed out as the external sources that caused the incident. However, MC Mong and BPM clearly explained the situation and clarified that they had no intention of recruiting EXO, which has also been verified directly by SM”, MC Mong’s lawyer stated.
Lastly, MC Mong’s side emphasized, “We plan to respond strongly to Ahn’s repeated coercion using illegally obtained recordings and manipulated, edited parts with malicious intentions.”
