Ma Dong-seok Holds Wedding & Achieves 11 Million Admissions With “The Roundup 4” On The Same Day
Ma Dong-seok held his late wedding and received the news of his new movie surpassing 11 million admissions on the same day
Ma Dong-seok (53 years old) is holding a private wedding ceremony with his wife Ye Jung-hwa (36 years old) at a famous hotel in Seoul on May 26th. The couple finally had a wedding three years after they registered their marriage in 2021.
Acknowledging his romantic relationship in 2016, Ma Dong-seok called Ye Jung-hwa “wife” and revealed their marriage registration while delivering his acceptance speech for the Film Artist Award at the 12th Beautiful Artist Awards in 2022.
While carrying out schedules for the promotion of “The Roundup: Punishment”, Ma Dong-seok also confessed affection for his wife. He said, “I was very poor when I met my wife for the first time. She must have thought that I was a strange person looking at my small room with 40-50 sheets of A4 paper of movie plans and scripts attached on the wall”, adding “Even though I was poor and often injured myself, she tried to take care of me. It hasn’t been long since I became known and my financial situation got better, and I’m grateful that my wife has supported me and helped me since my hard time”.
On the same day, right ahead of Ma Dong-seok’s wedding ceremony, the movie “The Roundup: Punishment” excellently exceeded 11 million cumulative viewers at 11:30 a.m.
It is not an exaggeration to say that “The Roundup” is Korea’s representative action movie series and the project that made Ma Dong-seok famous like today. Ma Dong-seok plays fierce detective Ma Seok-do in the series and has showcased his talents by not only acting but also participating in planning and producing the series. Following the second and third films, the fourth film also surpassed 10 million admissions, making “The Roundup” a triple-million series. Continuing its popularity, “The Roundup 4” finally hit the ‘11 million’ milestone today (May 26th).
When “The Roundup 4” Hit 10 million viewers, Ma Dong-seok shared, “I will continue to challenge new things with this series. If movies 1,2,3, and 4 are the first Act, the second Act will follow with movies 5, 6, 7 and 8. If Act 1 is about entertainment action, Act 3 will be deeper with action and thriller genres”, announcing his plan to continue the production until the 8th movie.
The actor added, “Ma Seok-do will continue to run because I know his pleasant shots against injustice can be a little comfort to people who are suffering hardships in life”.
