On June 27th, an online community post titled “I am a female BJ on Afreeca TV. Why is sexy dance okay for female idols, but not for us?“
The female BJ lamented, “Idols like Suzy, Hyeri, Chungha, Jang Won Young, Hyuna, Rosé, Jennie, and others earn money by doing sexy dances and appealing sexually too. I don’t understand why Afreeca BJs receive particularly negative attention and criticism.”
She continued, “Currently, I earn an average monthly income of over 600 and I have been challenging myself after quitting my flight attendant job. Wouldn’t you also pursue it if you could earn a lot of money?“
Upon reading the BJ’s complaint, netizens responded with comments such as, “It’s the difference between a porn star and a movie actor,” “Art and obscenity, beauty and vulgarity. They worked hard during years of trainee life, while you just stripped.“
As many netizens continued to show negative reactions, the BJ added another comment. The BJ asked, “Are you going to criticize BJs who also started as trainees and then appeared on TV?“
She further added, “Honestly, isn’t it true? After seeing them, don’t you think, ‘Wow, they’re pretty. I wish I could earn money like that’?“
Despite this, the comments were still unfavorable, and the BJ did not back down but continued to express her beliefs.
The BJ said, “Ultimately, regardless of their position, isn’t it enough for one to have a proper mindset and do their job well? I don’t understand why being a BJ is denigrated. If they dance and have the right thoughts and show a dignified attitude after the broadcast, wouldn’t that be enough?“
Finally, she concluded, “I think if someone wants to do their job freely without causing harm to others, they should be able to do so. I think it’s malicious behavior to criticize BJs and hold negative prejudices. I would like to give some advice to those who divide idols and BJs into different categories.“
