Singer UMI Criticized By ARMY For Using BTS V’s Fame To Promote Concert After Their Collaboration

American singer UMI faced criticism for mentioning BTS’s fandom ARMY in the post promoting her concert tour

On March 5th, UMI made a post on X (formerly Twitter) announcing the beginning of her concert tour in March. She said, “Hey ARMY. Did you know I’m going on tour. Tickets are still available”, adding “I’ll also be singing WUR (Where U R) for the first time”.

Previously, UMI collaborated with BTS’s V to release the single “Where R U” on December 30th, 2023. As the collaboration received enthusiastic support from ARMY, UMI decided to invite them to her upcoming concerts.

However, the way UMI referred to ARMY as if they were her own fans made them feel uncomfortable. Some commented, “ARMY is BTS’s fandom, not yours”, pointing out they only supported the song because of V’s participation, similar to the way they came to the concerts of artists who worked with BTS like Coldplay, Halsey, Epik High, etc.

UMI even hinted at her performance of “Where U R” for the first time at the concert to attract attention from BTS’s fans. Many ARMYs are even asking UMI to stop mentioning BTS, V, and his participation in the song. As the criticism intensified, UMI deleted her tweet.
