Lee Jae-won Bags First-Ever Acting Award in 15 Years since Debut, Thanks Family in Heartfelt Speech

On December 31st, the 2023 KBS Drama Awards took place. 

Lee Jae-won won Best Actor in Drama Special/TV Cinema for “No Path Back.” He received applause for confessing, “It’s been 15 years since my debut, and I’m receiving an award for the first time in my acting career.”

He said, “During the year-end seasons, when I was watching awards shows with family, no one said anything, but I felt heavy and sorry for no reason. Today, I’m thankful that such an opportunity has been created.”

He continued, “The producers asked me to keep it short from the viewers’ perspective, but I’ve been in the industry for a long time, and there are many people to thank. Personally, I want to express my gratitude in detail.” 

He expressed thanks to his parents, who supported and loved him more than anyone else since his college days, and his mother-in-law, who treated him like her own son and supported him in various ways. He thanked her, “If my mother-in-law hadn’t taken care of our babies, I might not have been able to come to the shoot. Thank you to my older brother and sister-in-law for lending me money whenever it was difficult.”

To express gratitude to everyone, he briefly checked his phone notes and finally conveyed his feelings to his family. He said, “To our lovely and courageous children who have grown up so beautifully. Especially to our Chae-hee, who has loved, watched, and cherished only me since I was twenty, I’m very grateful and sorry. These days, you’re going through a lot of trouble with childcare, but using this opportunity, I want to tell you that you are the most precious person in the world to me, and I love you.”

Lee Jae-won promised, “I will always remain humble and strive to become an actor with great expectations for the future.”
