Kim Seol Hyun revealed that she resembles her character in “I Don’t Want to Do Anything”.
On Nov 15th, the press conference for Genie TV’s original series “I Don’t Want to Do Anything” was held at Stanford Hotel in Sangam-dong, Seoul. Director Lee Yoon Jung, actress Kim Seol Hyun and actor Im Si Wan attended the event.
“I Don’t Want to Do Anything” is a project drama centering on Yeo Reum (Kim Seol Hyun), who voluntarily quits her job and decides to make a strike in her life, and Dae Beom (Im Si Wan), a librarian who questions his life. The drama reveals the story of those who leave the busy and complex city to visit an unfamiliar place and do nothing.
At the press conference, director Lee Yoon Jung said, “It’s been more than 20 years since I started directing films/ dramas, and my wish was to work until I die on the filming set. While I was wondering if I could take a rest, I was recommended the original work of this script. I found it very interesting because it’s just like my story. I thought it would be so great if I could deliver this feeling as it is.“
Kim Seol Hyun shared, “I sympathized a lot. I sympathized with Yeo Reum to the point where I wondered ‘Did they write about me?’ The characters I’ve played so far are those who say everything they want to say, but I’m not that kind of person. At that time, I happened to meet a story centering on the character’s emotions, and Yeo Reum has many things similar to me. I was confident that I could express this character well.“
Regarding the synchronization with Yeo Reum, Seol Hyun explained, “She’s very passive and others may think it’s frustrating. I was also passive when I was a child.” She added, “After living a fierce social life, I realized that I became a person who knew nothing about myself. I took a year off after thinking about work for 10 years. It was a time to get to know more about myself while doing completely different things. I think that time helped me live better in the future.“
Regarding what it was like working with Im Si Wan, Seol Hyun said, “He has treated me comfortably since we first met. We joined the project as actors and didn’t realize we were both idols. He guided me well on set, so I really trusted and followed him. I could trust him because he has more experience than me.“
“I Don’t Want to Do Anything” will premiere on ENA at 9:20 PM on Nov 21st, and will also be released on Genie TV and seezn on the same day.
