As rumors emerge about Kim Si Eun joining “Squid Game 2”, the actress’ agency said they could not confirm the news yet.
It is curious whether actor Kim Si Eun, who received attention at Cannes, will once again catch the attention of the world.
On June 26, a piece of information revealed that Kim Si Eun, who starred in “Next Sohee”, would be joining the second season of the Netflix original series “Squid Game.” However, it did not reveal what role the actress would play in the drama.
As the second season of “Squid Game” will begin filming next month, there is a growing curiosity about the final lineup. According to a casting video released by Netflix on June 18, the revealed cast at the moment includes Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun, Wi Ha Joon, Im Si Wan, Kang Ha Neul, Park Sung Hoon, Yang Dong Geun, and Gong Yoo.
Nonetheless, it did not appear to contain any actresses. However, leaked news revealed that Park Gyu Young and former IZ*ONE member Jo Yu Ri would join “Squid Game Season 2.” Nevertheless, Netflix has not confirmed nor denied the rumors.
On the other hand, Kim Si Eun was born in 1999 and first became known through a children’s program on EBS in 2016. She has since appeared in works such as “Negotiation,” “When Time Stops,” “Special Labor Inspector”, “Boys Be!!,” “Run On,” and “Mental Coach Jegal.”
Kim Si Eun starred in “Next Sohee” as So Hee. The movie was the first Korean movie to be a closing film at the 2022 “Cannes Film Festival.” She also won “Best New Actress in Film” at the “59th Baeksang Arts Awards.” With growing recognition for a skillful acting performance, it’s reasonable if the actress is chosen for the second part of “Squid Game.”
Nonetheless, the actress’ agency recently responded that they could not confirm whether she would join the final lineup.
“Squid Game” was a global phenomenon when it first aired on Netflix in 2021, the series attended various prestigious awards. The actors themselves also got shot to stardom. The second season is expected to be released next year.
