Jo Yuri to join “Squid Game 2”? Agency said it’s difficult to confirm

Soloist and former IZ*ONE member Jo Yuri will be joining the cast of “Squid Game 2”, expected to become a global actress.

According to a SPOTV News coverage on June 23rd, Jo Yuri has been cast in season 2 of the Netflix original series “Squid Game”.

Regarding this news, Jo Yuri’s agency, WakeOne, simply responded, “Please understand that it is difficult to confirm”.

It is notable that earlier on June 15th, when StarNews inquired about Jo Yuri’s appearance in “Squid Game 2”, an official of WakeOne said that they haven’t heard about the appearance, as if denying the rumor.

Within a week, WakeOne has changed its response, raising speculations that Jo Yuri is actually joining the cast lineup for Season 2 of “Squid Game”.

On the other hand, “Squid Game” is a series that depicts the story of participants who risk their lives in extreme games to become the final winner of a mysterious survival game with a prize of 45.6 billion won. Season 1 of the series, which was released in 2021, garnered worldwide acclaim.

Accordingly, “Squid Game 2” promises an even more intriguing storyline.

High expectations are placed on Jo Yuri’s intense transformation as she collaborates with previously announced cast members of Season 2, including Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun, Wi Ha Joon, Gong Yoo, Im Si Wan, Kang Ha Neul, Park Sung Hoon, and Yang Dong Geun.

On the other hand, Jo Yuri made her acting debut through the web drama “Mimicus” last year and gained recognition for her acting skills with a special appearance in the TVing original series “Work Later, Drink Now 2”. 

As such, Jo Yuri’s alleged casting in the blockbuster “Squid Game 2” is highly anticipated, as it promises her a leap as a global actress.

Meanwhile, season 2 of “Squid Game” will begin filming in the second half of 2023.
