Kim Gun Woo revealed how he made his living during hiatus before starring in “The Glory”

Actor Kim Gun Woo, who played Son Myung Oh in Netflix’s drama “The Glory”, confessed about his difficult past.

On March 24th, Joynews24 reported a recent interview with actor Kim Gun Woo. 

During the interview, Kim Gun Woo revealed that before being chosen for the cast of “The Glory“, there was a time when he took a break from acting and even failed in the final casting stage.

Recalling the past, he shared, “I even wondered whether continuing acting was the right thing to do. The moment I thought about giving up, I met ‘The Glory’ and regained my passion. I’m very grateful for that opportunity.”

Mentioning his hard time, Kim Gun Woo said, “I felt a sense of uncertainty and didn’t know what I should do. It was exhausting and I was struggling with disappointment and discouragement. I only thought of giving up.”

When asked how he made his living during his acting break, Kim Gun Woo surprised everyone when he answered, “I had previously saved some appearance fees and allowances. I also got an advance payment from the company and used it to support my life.”

He added, “I did the same when shooting ‘The Glory’. I had a good feeling about this work, so I asked the company if I could have delicious food while preparing for the drama. Now, I have paid back all the advance payment.”

Known as the top actor in the Department of Theater at the Korean National University of Arts, Kim Gun Woo also mentioned the day he received the award. He confessed, “I was amazed to the point that I wondered if I should be there the day I received the award. I was a very ordinary person. I was so grateful to receive an award but it didn’t give me any special feeling. The reality is very cold.”

Lastly, the actor expressed his gratitude to viewers who watched “The Glory”, saying, “Thank you for loving me. I’ve been loved so much love that I wonder if I can receive that much love again in the future. I want to say that I am really thankful. I can only express my gratitude by promising that I will greet you with better acting in my next work.”

Meanwhile, Kim Gun Woo’s next acting project is the musical “Para Bakery”, which will open at Seoul Sejong Cultural Center’s S Theater from May 13th to June 25th.
