K-Netizens Mocked BABYMONSTER after Pepsi Ads?

A topic about BABYMONSTER’s latest Pepsi Ads on a Korean forum has been flooded with negative comments.

At late night on February 15, a topic about BABYMONSTER’s recent ads with Pepsi was published on the Korean forum Pann Nate, drawing attention.

While the ads itself includes no controversial elements, BABYMONSTER was still targeted by negative comments, which raise doubts about the group’s popularity.

In particular, some netizens question if BABYMONSTER is popular enough to score a CF with Pepsi, and many even implied that this gig is “bought” by YG.

Below are some comments from Korean netizens:

  • Debuting under big companies is truly beneficial since they can do ads with big brands like this even though nobody knows them
  • Just how did they become Pepsi’s ambassador LOL
  • They are not even a K-pop group but a Thai-Japanese group so we shouldn’t mind them
  • It’s truly great to debut under a big company
  • This is in Thailand, right. It makes sense since there are Thai members
  • Yang Hyun-suk is truly working hard behind-the-scenes
