Unable To Detect Drug Components In Lee Sun-kyun’s Leg Hair, Police Face Criticism

The police are being criticized for the lack of evidence

According to Hankook Ilbo on November 14th, the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency’s drug crime investigation team had already secured Lee Sun-kyun’s leg hair at the time of the first investigation last month and asked the National Forensic Service for a thorough drug test. The National Forensic Service recently confirmed that Lee’s leg hair was declared “non-appealable.”

The exact reason was not disclosed, but the police said they are considering a number of measures, including re-collecting and requesting an appraisal, weighing the possibility that the collected hair amount was not sufficient.

It was reported that no additional body hair was submitted in Lee’s second investigation conducted on November 4th.

For the police, Lee Sun-kyun’s leg hair evaluation is actually the last chance to secure evidence. Although the drug test result was not negative, the police is still being criticized for “excessive investigation.”

On the 13th, an official from the National Office of Investigation of the National Police Agency admitted at a regular press conference that it was “right” to point out that “the investigation was launched only with statements without clear physical evidence.” However, he said, “We conducted the investigation before the charges because we have to check when the subject of an investigation makes a statement about crimes of others,” and added, “We are at the stage of doing what we can step by step.”

Regarding criticism that the investigation into Lee Sun-kyun and G-Dragon was unreasonable, the police said, “The drug crime investigation team determines whether a person is suspected by combining statements and forensic data as well as the results of the National Forensic Service’s evaluation,” adding, “It is a bit unreasonable to conclude that our investigation is unreasonable just because the drug test results have been negative so far.
