The fight between the BTS fandom and the shipper Taekook happened after Jung Kook revealed the tiger tattoo.
On January 3, the YouTube channel BangtanTV posted behind-the-scenes video recording Jung Kook’s solo scenes in MV ON. This is a music video shot in early 2020 in Los Angeles (USA). Jung Kook’s images in the music video behind the scenes excited fans. In which, the moment of revealing the tattoos on the maknae of BTS arm is the detail that catches the fans’ attention.
Many fans analyzed that in the original painting the tiger tattoo was the inscription referring to the land of Korea. The tiger shape is the traditional map shape of the Korean peninsula. This is considered an important symbol for Koreans, is a representative of strength, power, energy, vitality, and spirit. Fans praised Jung Kook when he got a tattoo showing his national pride as well as the deep meaning of the country he was born in.
While BTS fans lean towards the theory related to national strength, shipper Jung Kook – V (Taekook) thinks that the tiger may be related to V. In BTS, the member with the tiger symbol is V. Accordingly, Jung Kook has a tiger tattoo and also has a tattoo related to the tiger flower. V-Kook fans believe that it is no coincidence that the maknae of BTS has (at least) 2 tiger tattoos.
In addition to tiger tattoos, Jung Kook also has other “suspicious” tattoos that are believed to be related to V. BTS fans criticize Taekook fans for paranoia. However, these “shippers” argue that every theory is possible and each person has their own beliefs. Not only the Taekook shipper association, the Kookmin shipper association (Jung Kook and Ji Min) also thought that the tattoos on Jung Kook’s hand were referring to Ji Min.
However, Jung Kook fans claim that only the male idol himself knows the true meaning behind each tattoo. It is not advisable for “shippers” or OT7 fans (fans of all 7 members) to fight for the meaning of tattoos on Jung Kook’s hands.
