IU Recalled Being Hit At 7 Year Old In Interview With Her Own Mother

A video titled “IU ‘Shh’ (/W My First World) was posted on the YouTube channel “IU Official” on March 6th.

In the video, the behind the scenes story about the track “Shh…” (Feat. HYEIN, Cho Won-sun & Special Narr. Patty Kim) from IU’s latest album “Love wins all” was conducted in the form of an interview.

“Shh” is a song that expresses undefined feelings about a woman and her mother who was her first role model and also the first world to her. Therefore, IU’s interviewer in the video was also made between her and her mother. However, only the voice of IU’s mother was featured.

IU shared, “When I was young, I was so desperate and daring that I was angry at (my mom) a lot.” Her mother replied, “It wasn’t a lot, but we had a big fight and I lost.” IU’s mom said, “I hit you for the first time because of that,” and IU laughed, “My butt still hurts. Why did you hit me?”

IU’s mother recalled the past, saying, “You don’t remember? You did something that a seven-year-old child can’t do?” According to IU’s mother, seven-year-old IU told her, “Kindergarten is off, I’m so happy not to go,” and when her mother said, “Then don’t go at all,” IU got angry. Regarding her past action, IU said, “It’s not that I don’t want to go to kindergarten, but I like my day off. How could you do that to me as a mother? Do you like the days you have to go to work?” IU’s mother said, “You’re right,” and immediately apologized to her.

IU commented, “I think I became an adult with a good attitude thanks to my mother. Admitting your own fault is a good thing that I learned from my mom, which is that even adults can apologize to their children.”

Then, IU showed her love for her mom. She said, “It’s not like I have to love you because you are a mom, but I’ve always liked you, even if I don’t try to like you. And you’re so cute. I think you’re so cute.”
