IU and BLACKPINK Ticket Scammer Sentenced to 6 Years in Prison

According to News1, Judge Lee Jong-min of the Seoul Central District Court recently sentenced Mr. Kim, who was charged with fraud, to 6 years in prison.

Mr. Kim engaged in fraudulent activities more than 130 times, claiming to sell concert tickets on direct trading applications and online communities like.

He posted advertisements claiming to sell concert tickets for various famous singers, including Lim Young Woong, BLACKPINK, and IU, and fraudulently obtained hundreds of millions of won.

In particular, in May to August 2022, he posted advertisements claiming to sell tickets for Lim Young-woong’s concert, scamming over 200 million won (approx 150,000 USD) through around 80 transactions.

Mr. Kim’s criminal activities did not end there. In 2022, he also lured victims by offering to transfer IU concert tickets, obtained their credit card information, and applied for card loans.

By posting advertisements for various items, including concert tickets, camera sales, game money recharge, and department store gift cards, Mr. Kim swindled a total of 496.44 million won (approx 363,000 USD) from 31 victims.

Regarding this IU and BLACKPINK ticket scammer, the court stated, “The defendant’s criminal conduct is improper, and the number of victims and the scale of damage are considerable. Even after being indicted for fraud and receiving a trial, he continued to commit fraud, and corresponding punishment is necessary as he used the proceeds for gambling and coin investments.”
