Hyun Bin and Jeon Gook-hwan of “Confidential Assignment 2” acutally appeared as father and son in another work

Here is an interesting fact about the two actors Hyun Bin and Jeon Gook-hwan.

“Confidential Assignment 2: International” (directed by Lee Suk-hoon) was released earlier this month and is attracting attention. It tells the story of North Korean detective Cheol-ryung, South Korean detective Kang Jin-tae and FBI agent Jack collaborating to catch the leader of a criminal organization in North Korea.

Following “Confidential Assignment”, Hyun Bin returned to play Im Cheol-ryung, a detective from North Korea’s special investigation team. As the criminal is found to be hiding in Seoul, the North Korean government sends Cheol-ryong to the South again to catch him.

Chul-ryung’s superior Won Hyung-sul, the captain working at the People’s Security Ministry who really likes and respects Cheol-ryung, was played by veteran actor Jeon Gook-hwan. Won Hyung-sul shows a cool appearance throughout the movie but impresses all the viewers with his warm affection reminiscent of the father and son relationship for Cheol-ryung in the end.

In fact, Jeon Gook-hwan and Hyun Bin used to play father and son in a rich North Korean family in tvN’s 2020 drama “Crash Landing on You”. 

What’s interesting is that the two actors play characters working in North Korean military forces in both “Confidential Assignment 2” and “Crash Landing on You”. In addition, the settings of the two works are 4 years apart.
