Han So-hee, “‘Soundtrack #1’ and ‘Kyungsung Creature’, which are coming up this year, gave me a pleasant tension”
Below is the interview with Han So-hee, the winner of the 2021 Asia Artist Awards.
Han So-hee (27) is five years into her debut, but she is already the most prominent actress of her age. Han So-hee caught the public’s eye for her passionate acting against Kim Hee-ae in the 2020 JTBC drama “The World of the Married,” which won her the “Rookie of the Year” award in the 2020 AAA. In her 20s, she then challenged the youth romantic genre and noir action genre with JTBC’s “Nevertheless” and Netflix’s “My Name” last year, expanding the genre and winning the “Best Artist Award” at the 2021 AAA (2021 Asian Artist Awards).
Han So-hee drew and sympathized with the love concerns from confused college students as “Nevertheless” Yun Ji-woo, while she also appeared in a rare in Korea and difficult female action series “My Name.” Having won the award at AAA for the second consecutive year, she said about her appearance as an actress, “I am the proudest and happiest as an actress when the audiences who watch my works see me as my characters, not as Han So-hee.”
Han So-hee‘s 2022 is also busy. After presenting a musical drama with Disney+ “Soundtrack #1”, she will release a historical thriller with tvN drama “Gyeongsung Creature.” These two works will also be her new acting challenges.
Han So-hee is set to appear in Disney+’s original series ‘Soundtrack #1‘ on March 23rd. She introduced the upcoming drama and her role, “In ‘Soundtrack #1’, I play the lyricist Lee Eun-soo, a character who realizes the essence of love and growth by writing lyrics about her long-time friend Sun-woo and unrequited love”. ‘Soundtrack #1‘, starring Han So-hee and Park Hyung-sik, is a musical romance drama in which the male and female lead, who have been best friends for 20 years, wind up staying in the same house for two weeks.
She continued, “Eun-soo is a character with many similarities to my own personality, so I was very comfortable while filming, and I was able to completely immerse myself into the character. It was a short time, but I became closer to Hyung-sik oppa, who plays Sun-woo, and we had a lot of fun trying various things together.”
Han So-hee has also attracted attention after she was confirmed to join Park Seo-joon as lead actors in her next drama, ‘Gyeongseong Creature‘. She said, “It’s only my second time doing a historical drama after ‘100 Days My Prince’, so I have a lot to worry about. It is a great honor to be able to work together with such good seniors, so I’m getting ready and trying not to be lacking, especially in costumes, tone of voice, background, etc. I want to broaden my range so that my presence can blend in well without showing any awkwardness.”
Han So-hee has been showing her range in a variety of challenging genres through her works so far, from historical, action, thriller, noir, romance to musical dramas. She said, “It’s exciting to show different sides of myself every time, but above all else, I want to get closer with the viewers as a character I portray instead of myself. I am the proudest and happiest as an actress when the audiences who watch my works see me as my characters, not as Han So-hee.”
