Han Hyo-joo Mentions Her New Image In ‘Believer 2’, “Building A Nice Body Is Harder Than Filming Action Scenes”

Actress Han Hyo-joo talked about her efforts in becoming Big Knife of “Believer 2”

On the morning of November 14th, the press conference for Netflix’s movie “Believer 2” was held at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Jo Jin-woong, Cha Seung-won, Han Hyo-joo, Oh Seung-hoon, and director Baek attended the event and introduced their movie.

Revealing the reason she decided to participate in this film, Han Hyo-joo said, “I agreed to join this project with my trust in the director since we already worked together in ‘Beauty Inside’. This is a completely new character, so I took it as a challenge.”

In “Believer 2”, Han Hyo-joo plays Big Knife, who handles the organization’s affairs. Regarding her character, the actress explained, “Big Knife wants to protect Mr. Lee. She doesn’t know who Mr. Lee is but she wants to protect him”.

Han Hyo-joo also talked about her efforts to showcase the shocking appearance and excellent Chinese lines of Big Knife. She shared, “There were so many Chinese lines to prepare before the shoot, so I tried to memorize the lines one by one while taking lessons with a teacher three times a week as if I was remembering songs. After some slow practices, I tried learning them faster, changing my tone and nuances, and practicing a lot. I kept muttering the Chinese words to memorize them while working out in the morning or in the evening and even during my walk along the Han River at night.”

Han Hyo-joo confessed, “When filming action scenes, I needed to expose my abs clearly, and Big Knife’s body had to be seen with wounds. It was very difficult to build a body for such scenes”. She admitted that working out to build a nice body shape was more difficult than doing fierce action shoots. The actress added, “I made it tough. I cried on the running machine while working out a week before the shoot. It was not easy at all and I even wondered how long I should continue doing that.”

Cha Seung-won then poured compliments on Han Hyo-joo’s acting transformation. He said, “It was my first time speaking Chinese in front of the monitor. What a new experience. Her voice tone in Chinese sounded so new and amazing that believed this character was as significant as the villain in the previous film”.

Expressing her feelings about showing a new image through “Believer 2” after gaining so much love with “Moving”, Han Hyo-joo said, “I felt so grateful and happy that I almost cried. After the trailer of ‘Believer 2’ came out, there were many comments saying it looked interesting. Some people commented like ‘Bong-seok’s mom is getting bad’, ‘Looks like Bong-seok’s adolescence hit her hard’, etc. I’m glad to have a chance to present a new side of me. You may be surprised when you see it, but I think it will give you a new experience.”

“Believer 2” will premiere via Netflix on November 17th.
