BLACKPINK and SNSD confirmed to make full-group comebacks in August: Two “Kpop queens” will go head-to-head?

August will be the hottest month of the year for Kpop fans if both SNSD and BLACKPINK return.

On July 6, YG Entertainment confirmed that BLACKPINK will make a comeback in August. Notably, also in August, the “national girl group” – SNSD will also make a comeback to celebrate their 15th anniversary. Given that the two top K-Pop girl groups will return at the same time, fans are now eagerly anticipating a fiery and extremely exciting battle this summer.

In fact, both SNSD and BLACKPINK are considered legendary K-Pop girl groups. After 15 years of debut, SNSD is considered as the national group with an admirable reputation and countless achievements. As for BLACKPINK, at the moment, the 4 girls are also considered the leading girl group for the Hallyu wave and have a great impact on the worldwide music market.

With two “Queens of Kpop”, Girls’ Generation and BLACKPINK, possibly having overlapping comebacks this August, many fans wonder if an intense competition between two powerful girl groups are about to happen. Will a “war” erupt between their fandoms, BLINKs and SONEs?

Some netizens left comments:

  • BLACKPINK will eat. Why does SM deliberately want their girl groups to go up against BLACKPINK? From aespa to Girls’ Generation.
  • Girls’ Generation will return on August 8 because there are 8 members. There is nothing to do with BLACKPINK’s anniversary.
  • August is going to be intense.
  • Comebacks from 2nd gen No.1 girl group and 3th gen No.1 girl group in the same month? Insane.

Meanwhile, SNSD is currently broadcasting their own TV show called Soshi Tamtam, paving the way for a full album this August. Meanwhile, the girls of YG Entertainment are currently in the final stages of recording their new album. Notably, according to the announcement from YG, BLACKPINK will prepare for a large-scale tour, even the largest in the history of K-Pop girl groups ever. This is an effort to “expand the connection between BLACKPINK and fans around the world”.
