BLACKPINK confirmed their comeback in August, to hold world tour later in the year

YG Entertainment recently confirmed that BLACKPINK will be making a comeback soon.

According to YG Entertainment on July 6th, famous Kpop girl group BLACKPINK is currently in the final stages of recording a new album. They plan to start filming a music video in July and heat up this summer with the release of a new song in August.

“A lot of music in the unique color of BLACKPINK has been prepared for a long time”, said YG. “ Along with their comeback, BLACKPINK will go on the largest world tour in the history of a K-pop girl group by the end of the year to expand their rapport with fans around the world. In addition, there will be large-scale projects worthy of their global star status.”

BLACKPINK

This August comeback will be BLACKPINK’s first return as a full group after 1 year and 10 months. Previously, before the release of their 1st full length ep “The Album” in 2020, BLACKPINK dropped their pre-release title “How You Like That” and the special collaboration track with Selena Gomez “Ice Cream” back-to-back, leading to a streak in popularity.

In addition, “The Album”, which features the title “Lovesick Girls”, managed to sell over 1.4 million copies, making BLACKPINK the first Kpop girl group to become a million-seller (based on Hanteo/Gaon charts). The album was such a huge sensation, it reached number two on both the US Billboard 200 and the UK Official Chart, the two largest pop music charts in the world.

BLACKPINK members Rosé and Lisa also dropped their solo albums last year, which took major global charts by storm and broke various new records.

In the meantime, the number of subscribers to Blackpink’s YouTube channel has surpassed 75 million, the highest among Kpop male and female artists worldwide. The total number of Instagram followers of the group and each member is over 318 million.
