G-Dragon, unreasonable investigation? Police Commissioner “It’s difficult to agree”

According to News1 on Dec 26th, Commissioner Yoon addressed the issue during a regular press conference held in writing, saying, “Based on specific tip-offs, we conducted investigations on relevant individuals following legal procedures. It’s difficult to agree with the opinion that we conducted an unreasonable investigation just because it ended without indictment.

On Dec 18th, the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency’s Drug Crime Investigation Unit decided on “no charges” regarding G-Dragon, who was booked without detention on drug-related charges under the Narcotics Control Act.

The police received intelligence in September that drugs were being distributed at an entertainment establishment in Gangnam, Seoul, and during the investigation process, suspicions were raised against G-Dragon. On Oct 25th, G-Dragon was booked on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act, but he denied the allegations and voluntarily appeared at the police station for questioning.

The police requested preliminary urine tests and precise drug assessments by the National Forensic Service, all of which returned negative results. Unable to secure clear evidence, the police eventually concluded that there were no grounds to suspect G-Dragon.

Afterwards, G-Dragon announced the establishment of a foundation for drug eradication. His new agency, Galaxy Corporation, revealed on Dec 25th that G-Dragon would donate 300 million won for the establishment of the “JUSPEACE” foundation.
