SBS’ Friday-Saturday drama “Payback” is on the rise as it recorded its own highest rating.
According to the ratings research company Nielsen Korea, episode 7 of “Payback”, which aired on Jan 27th, soared to 11.6% in the metropolitan area, 11.1% nationwide and the highest rating of 12.9% based on paid households, breaking its own highest rating.
“Payback”, which started at 8.7% on Jan 6th, showed a slight slowdown as it fell to 7.1% in episode 6 after gently riding an upward curve. In episode 7, it exceeded 10%, ranking first among the shows aired at the same time.
In episode 7, Eun Yong (Lee Sun Kyun), who went into the detention center, his nephew – prosecutor Jang Tae Chun (Kang Yoo Seok) and Park Joon Kyung (Moon Chae Won) reunited. In addition, Ham Jin (Choi Jung In), a prosecutor at the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office who had been close to Park Joon Kyung over the years, also provided support.
Eun Yong sent evidence to Hwang Ki Seok (Park Hoon) after noticing that Myung In Joo (Kim Hong Pa) was manipulating stock prices targeting three companies. Hwang Ki Seok visited Chairman Myung and expressed his extreme anger. At the same time, Ham Jin seized and searched the companies, and stock prices reflecting unfavorable factors began to plunge. Chairman Myung tried to prevent losses by immediately selling stocks, but Hwang Ki Seok fiercely confronted Chairman Myung, fearing that his political career would be damaged in the future if allegations of stock price manipulation became evident.
Hwang Ki Seok, who could no longer look after his father-in-law, visited Eun Yong and asked why he gave up the opportunity to weave Chairman Myung and told him in advance. Eun Yong said, “I’ll take all the assets of your father-in-law Chairman Myung and give them to your wife. If you make a deal with me, I can make Chairman Myung kneel in front of you.“
“Payback” is a thrilling revenge drama that follows the story of people who risk everything to fight the money cartel that colluded with the law. It airs every Friday and Saturday at 10 PM.
