Chungha Confesses, “Being a Celebrity Isn’t My Whole Life, Considering Studying Abroad”

Chungha opened up about the struggles she faced during her hiatus

On October 29th, a video featuring Chungha’s guest appearance was uploaded to dancer Gabee’s YouTube channel ‘Gabee Girl.’

Chungha confessed that she had a one-year hiatus and said, “This is the first time I’m talking about it. During my break, I studied for a Korean history certification and obtained a Level 1 certificate.”

Gabee revealed, “(Before) I even asked her where she was going, and she said she was going to study abroad. She said she would study and go abroad for further education.”

Chungha expressed, “At that time, studying abroad was what I wanted the most. It’s just a job, and even if I don’t become a celebrity, I can find another life, right? This job, as you know, is like that for dancers and singers. You have to search for it to continue.”

At the same time, Chungha recently joined MORE VISION, founded by Jay Park. She explained the reason behind it, “It’s not that there’s a big reason, but if I had to choose a new company, I needed someone to approach me most actively and say, ‘You have to do this,’ in a realistic way. Fortunately, (Jay Park) contacted me the most.”

She also revealed her concerns about her future music activities. Chungha said, “Haven’t I done a variety of things? I’ve done a more diverse range of music than I thought. As a result, I felt like I didn’t have a clear identity. When people think of Chungha, all that comes to mind is ‘Gotta Go’.”

Chungha added, “I honestly didn’t adapt well at my previous company. I came out of there feeling all awkward.” She continued, “But it’s also okay not to adapt. I think some level of discomfort is necessary. There should be a certain boundary with the company. But Jay Park hates it when people call him the CEO.”
