Chun Woo-hee Tells Behind Story Of Movie “Han Gong-ju” About Miryang Gang Rape
Actress Chun Woo-hee appears on “You Quiz on the Block and reveals a behind story about her appearance in “Han Gong-ju”
On June 5th, tvN’s entertainment program “You Quiz on the Block” uploaded a pre-release video featuring Chun Woo-hee on their official YouTube channel.
In the video, Yoo Jae-suk said, “The independent movie ‘Han Gong-ju’ was the turning point in the 10th year after your debut”. Chun Woo-hee nodded and shared, “It was a movie that we made with all our hearts and filmed without worrying about the production cost”
She emphasized, “I wondered if the public would pay attention to this story, which was a little heavy, but I was sure that our story would be very meaningful”.
She continued, “I felt like that friend and I spent time leaning on and relying on each other. I always wanted to be by her side”, expressing her deep affection for the character in the movie.
Starring Chun Woo-hee as the female lead, “Han Gong-ju” is a movie that premiered in 2014. It was based on a real incident in which 44 male students raped a middle school girl for a year in Miryang, South Gyeongsang-do in 2004. After her movie debut with “Han Gong-ju”, Chun Woo-hee won Best Leading Actress at the 35th Blue Dragon Film Awards after 10 years of her acting debut.
Recently, a YouTube channel disclosed the identities of the perpetrators in the Miryang gang rape and the public has been re-examining the incident. After watching the pre-release video of “You Quiz”, netizens commented, “‘You Quiz’ production team’s vision is amazing”, “I was surprised by the timing”, etc.
“You Quiz on the Block”, starring Chun Woo-hee, will air at 8:45 p.m. on June 5th.
