A Netflix D.P. star turned out to be Red Velvet Irene’s bodyguard before his debut

The surprising past of actor Shin Seung-ho has been revealed

On Oct 9th, a post titled “Shin Seung-ho, Red Velvet bodyguard days” was uploaded on many online communities in Korea.

The post included a photo showing a man dressed as a bodyguard standing behind Red Velvet’s Joy and Irene, catching the eyes of many.

What’s surprising is that the bodyguard in the photo had distinctive facial features and superior stature, which led fans to be amazed by the revelation that it was actor Shin Seung-ho in his pre-debut days.

In reality, Shin Seung-ho spent over 10 years playing soccer, from elementary school to college, as he dreamed of becoming a professional soccer player.

With his tall height of 187cm and well-built physique, he had the potential to pursue soccer. However, due to a major injury that led to a slump in his soccer career, he eventually decided to quit this sport.

To pave his own way in the future, Shin Seung-ho moved to Seoul. He earned money by taking on various part-time jobs, including department store security guard, fansign event security and fashion model.

The photo shared on online communities is believed to have been taken during the time when Shin Seung-ho worked as Red Velvet’s bodyguard before his debut.

Fans could not hide their astonishment when they saw the photo because Shin Seung-ho, who once served as Red Velvet’s bodyguard, later debuted as an actor and starred alongside Irene in the movie “Double Patty” in 2021.

The revelation of Shin Seung-ho’s surprising past, where he went from being a bodyguard to a fellow actor sharing the screen with Irene, left fans in awe.

Meanwhile, Shin Seung-ho made his name known to the public through his debut work – the web drama “A-Teen” (2018). He has since steadily built his acting career through various works and established himself as a trending actor, particularly with his role as Sergeant Hwang Jang-soo in Netflix’s drama “D.P.”.
