The identities of the suspects are Kwong Kau (65 years old, retired police officer, ex-father-in-law of the victim), Anthony (31 years old, driver, older brother of the victim’s ex-husband), Alex Kwong, (28 years old, unemployed, ex-husband of victim), Jenny Li (63 years old, retired, ex-mother-in-law of victim).

According to Wenweipo, the four suspects did not hire a private lawyer, but only discussed the case with a public lawyer. From 9:30 am (local time), a large number of reporters were present at the court.

The four suspects entered the courthouse under the supervision of the police. Accordingly, Abby Choi’s ex-husband, ex-husband’s brother and ex-father-in-law still maintained a calm attitude. After listening to the allegations in detail, Kwong Kau, the victim’s ex-father-in-law, looked nonchalant. Anthony and Alex Wong sometimes bowed their heads, sometimes looked at the judge without saying a word. Meanwhile, Jenny Li, Abby Choi’s ex-mother-in-law always bowed throughout the trial.

The attitude of the suspects angered the public. They looked terrifyingly calm after such a brutal murder.

The judge decided to adjourn the trial until the afternoon of May 8 for the police to gather more evidence. Abby Choi’s ex-husband and in-laws will continue to be detained without bail. The model’s ex-mother-in-law applied for bail but was also denied by the judge.
