“Yumi’s Cells” staff, “It’s unreasonable to conclude that Ahn Bo Hyun has a bad personality solely based on a short moment”
Ahn Bo Hyun suddenly got framed as an “actor with a bad personality” after admitting to dating BLACKPINK Jisoo.
Controversy arose when netizens pointed out a scene in the behind-the-scenes video of the drama “Yumi’s Cells” released in September 2021 when a female staff was seen holding a script for Ahn Bo Hyun. In addition, some dug up the issue in the same year regarding the channel Ahn Bo Hyun subscribed to on Youtube, which he had officially apologized, to criticize the actor.
Not only those who already had a negative gaze toward Ahn Bo Hyun, but people who don’t know him would also develop a bad impression just because of the short scene in the video. Therefore, OSEN recently interviewed a staff member from the company of an actor who worked with Ahn Bo Hyun in “Yumi’s Cells”.
Regarding the controversy, the staff said, “Such situations can occur during the filming. Especially when they are already very close to each other as a team, the staff can directly hold the script for their actor like that. They’re like brother and sister helping each other, not a relationship between people with higher and lower statuses.”
They added, “I watched the behind video, but I think we cannot conclude that Ahn Bo Hyun’s personality is bad considering him in that very short moment only”, adding “In my opinion, it is unreasonable to judge Ahn Bo Hyun solely based on that moment and ignore other factors, such as the atmosphere on the set and their relationship.”
Revealing that they have been watching Ahn Bo Hyun since he appeared in the 2016 drama “Descendants of the Sun” as a rookie actor, the staff said, “Ahn Bo Hyun is not an actor who will cause controversy over his personality. He’s very gentle and polite.”
OSEN also reached out to the staff of an actor who played a leading role alongside Ahn Bo Hyun and they said, “I also watched the making video a few days ago”, adding “When an actor is holding props or anything in their hand before the shoot, the staff next to them can help by holding the script. Since the scene showed Ahn Bo Hyun with nothing in his hands, it seems to have caused misunderstandings”.
The staff continued, “Actors usually don’t ask the staff to hold the script for them unless they are holding something. At that moment, Ahn Bo Hyun might have asked her to help him with it for a while”, adding “We actually don’t know the full context. There might have been some situations that resulted in the female staff having no choice but to hold the script. It is because other actors never ask the staff to do it unless their hands are busy.”
When asked about the atmosphere on the set when filming with Ahn Bo Hyun, they replied, “There were no arguments on the set. We finished the shoot without any problem.”
