A Korean drama that once dominated buzz with 11% peak viewership is officially making a comeback but not without a major change. SBS’s hit series Flex X Cop is returning with Season 2, this time featuring a new female lead.
Flex X Cop gained widespread popularity for its fast-paced investigations, sharp tension, and the love-hate chemistry between its leads. The drama, which aired as a 16-episode series and concluded in March last year, followed the unlikely partnership between a third-generation chaebol and a seasoned detective.

The Season 1 finale delivered a shocking twist. Jin Yi Soo (played by Ahn Bo Hyun) uncovered the brutal truth that the murderer of both his parents was none other than his own brother, Seung Joo (Kwak Si Yang). Although Seung Joo shamelessly seized control of the family conglomerate, Jin Yi Soo ultimately forced a confession and brought him to justice. Choosing duty over privilege, Jin Yi Soo returned to the police force, handing over the company leadership and beginning a new chapter as a real detective.
As Jin Yi Soo overcame deep-rooted trauma and matured into a principled officer, Flex X Cop achieved its highest rating of 11% (Nielsen Korea), cementing its place as one of SBS’s standout successes.

Despite the strong momentum, Season 2 will move forward without Park Ji Hyun, who played Lee Kang Hyun and shared a fan-favorite dynamic with Ahn Bo Hyun. Instead, actress Jung Eun Chae joins the cast, sparking curiosity over the drama’s new chemistry.
A New Dynamic In Season 2
In Flex X Cop Season 2, Jin Yi Soo returns to the Violent Crimes Unit after completing formal training at the police academy. However, chaos ensues when his former academy nightmare the ruthless instructor Joo Hye Ra arrives as the team’s new leader.

Ahn Bo Hyun reprises his role as Jin Yi Soo, the carefree yet brilliant chaebol-turned-detective who uses wealth, connections, intelligence, and even extreme sports skills to take down criminals. Jung Eun Chae plays Joo Hye Ra, a former elite counterterrorism officer who voluntarily transfers to lead the Violent Crimes Unit, becoming Jin Yi Soo’s direct superior.
Why Fans Are Watching Closely
SBS has built a strong reputation for its cathartic “justice-served” dramas, including Taxi Driver, The Fiery Priest, One Dollar Lawyer, and Wonder Woman. Flex X Cop stands out within this universe for its flashy, money-powered investigations and charismatic lead character.

With SBS’s seasonal dramas most notably Taxi Driver 3 continuing to perform well, expectations are high that Flex X Cop Season 2 will follow suit despite the cast shake-up.
Flex X Cop 2 is scheduled to premiere in 2026, and all eyes are on whether its new partnership can recreate or even surpass the magic of its first season.
