With unstoppable momentum, a tvN drama dominating its time slot once again rewrote its own ratings record this time powered by a single, emotionally charged kiss scene. In episode 8, aired on January 27, Ahn Bo Hyun delivered a full-bodied, self-sacrificing performance for Lee Joo Bin, shaking viewers’ hearts and pushing the series to new heights. The episode recorded an average nationwide rating of 5.2% and a peak of 5.8%, cementing its status as the strongest Monday–Tuesday drama on air.
The January 27 broadcast of tvN’s Spring Fever (directed by Park Won Gook, written by Kim Ah Jung, developed by CJ ENM Studios and produced by Bon Factory) marked a turning point in both romance and mystery. Seon Jae Gyu (Ahn Bo Hyun) and Yoon Bom (Lee Joo Bin) finally confirmed their feelings for each other, officially stepping into a full-fledged romance, while long-hidden secrets began to surface. According to Nielsen Korea, the episode ranked No. 1 across all channels in the same time slot, including terrestrial networks, among the key 2049 (viewers aged 20~49) demographic nationwide and in the metropolitan area.

In the episode, Seon Jae Gyu and Yoon Bom’s secret relationship is accidentally discovered by fellow teacher Jung Jin Hyuk (Bae Jung Nam). Seon Jae Gyu even kneels to beg him to keep their secret, but Jung Jin Hyuk proposes a risky deal instead asking for a covert investigation into Oh Sung Tae, the office manager linked to Choi Yi Joon (Cha Seo Won). The tension deepens when Jung Jin Hyuk demands that Seon Jae Gyu deliberately lose a jiu-jitsu match, baffling onlookers and adding humor to the unfolding intrigue.
Meanwhile, Yoon Bom crosses paths with Seon Hee Yeon (Son Yeo Eun), triggering subtle psychological warfare. After realizing Seon Jae Gyu lied about being an insurance planner, Yoon Bom visits his home and uncovers the truth: Seon Hee Yeon is his biological sister and the mother of Han Gyeol (Cho Jun Young). Moved by Han Gyeol’s situation living unaware that his biological mother is alive Yoon Bom delivers a heartfelt plea that leaves a lingering emotional impact.

The drama’s intensity peaks when a sudden typhoon strikes Shinsu-eup. As villagers gather at Seon Jae Gyu’s house the only place with electricity he realizes Yoon Bom is missing and rushes into the storm to find her. In a harrowing moment, a collapsing signboard nearly hits Yoon Bom as she searches for a gift box he gave her, but Seon Jae Gyu throws himself into danger to save her, stunning everyone.
Unable to hide his fear and relief, Seon Jae Gyu breaks down in tears, revealing emotions he rarely shows. Touched by his sincerity, Yoon Bom responds with a gentle kiss on his cheek, followed by a full kiss that melts away the cold and seals one of the drama’s most memorable romantic moments.

The sweetness, however, is short-lived. Han Gyeol discovers an inheritance agreement from Seon Hee Yeon in Seon Jae Gyu’s room, setting the stage for another emotional storm. His question “Seon Hee Yeon is my mom’s name. Is she alive?” paired with Seon Jae Gyu’s shaken expression, ends the episode on a tense cliffhanger, raising anticipation for what lies ahead.
Following the broadcast, viewers flooded social media with praise, calling the couple’s chemistry irreplaceable and the kiss scene beautifully directed. Many described the rescue moment as chilling and emotional, while others eagerly speculated about the fallout between uncle and nephew.
tvN’s Spring Fever episode 9 airs on February 2 at 8:50 PM, with expectations higher than ever as romance and secrets continue to collide.
