SBS has officially confirmed that Flex X Cop 2 will return with a major cast change, replacing its female lead while keeping Ahn Bo Hyun in the starring role.

Ahead of its premiere on August 7, SBS unveiled photos from the drama’s first script reading. Flex X Cop 2 follows the success of the original Flex X Cop, which aired in 2024 and became a hit both in ratings and online buzz, reaching a peak viewership rating of 11.0% in the Seoul metropolitan area, according to Nielsen Korea. The new season once again centers on third-generation chaebol detective Jin I Soo (Ahn Bo Hyun), who uses his wealth and connections to fight crime, but this time he teams up with veteran detective Joo Hye Ra (Jung Eun Chae) in a new investigative partnership.

While continuing the universe established in the first season, the sequel promises larger-scale action sequences and more intense criminal cases. One of the biggest changes is the replacement of the female lead. Although Ahn Bo Hyun reprises his role as Jin I Soo, Jung Eun Chae takes over as the heroine, replacing Park Ji Hyun, who portrayed veteran detective Lee Gang Hyun in the original series. Jung Eun Chae will instead play elite police officer Joo Hye Ra, a former police academy instructor known for her exceptional investigative skills.

Director Kim Jae Hong and writer Kim Ba Da, who have worked together for years, reunite for the new installment while maintaining the signature style of the franchise and introducing fresh elements. Alongside Ahn Bo Hyun and Jung Eun Chae, cast members Kang Sang Jun, Kim Shin Bi, Jung Ga Hee, and Kim Myung Soo also attended the first script reading, impressing the production team with their energetic performances and chemistry.

During the script reading, director Kim Jae Hong spoke about how meaningful it was to return with a second season. Ahn Bo Hyun also shared his excitement, saying he had missed the atmosphere of filming Flex X Cop and looked forward to building strong chemistry with the newly joined cast members. He added that the team would work hard to recreate the energy that made the first season such a success.

Building on the popularity of its predecessor, Flex X Cop 2 aims to deliver an even stronger story, more dynamic character relationships, and thrilling action when it premieres as the first title in SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama lineup.

Flex X Cop 2 is scheduled to premiere on August 7 at 9:50 p.m. KST on SBS.
