YouTuber who spread false rumors about EXO’s Chanyeol took down the video and apologized following SM’s tough response

After causing Chanyeol to be misunderstood as a rude idol who flipped her, the YouTuber apologized.

Earlier, on Channel S’s ‘Real Granny’ aired on April 26th, a popular female bike influencer and YouTuber told the story of her being flipped by a famous idol on the street. She said, “A famous idol in a foreign car once gave me a middle finger when I was riding my scooter to work. I was really furious. Because he is such a famous idol, I think I might be buried the moment I reveal his name.”

After that, the video posted by the female biker in question on her YouTube channel in March became a hot topic in online communities. The video shows the male idol that acted rudely towards her but it was difficult to tell who he is. However, netizens started speculating that it was EXO’s Chanyeol based on similar cars and size of hands. Moreover, the YouTuber even liked the comments that indirectly mentioned Chanyeol, causing him to be misunderstood as a “middle finger swearing idol.”

However, on April 27th, SM Entertainment, Chanyeol’s agency released a tough response, saying, “The person in the video is not Chanyeol. The car is also different from Chanyeol’s car. We will take strong legal actions against the spread of false information.” After SM gave a warning that they would take legal measures, the YouTuber took down the video and posted an apology.

The YouTuber wrote on her Instagram on the morning of April 28th, “I never mentioned the person’s real name, and even if I find him, I have no intention of disclosing his identity. I’m sorry that speculative comments and distorted rumors are misunderstood as true. I want to apologize to the person who suffered the damage. I do not want any other damage, so I will delete the video and related feeds.”
